Moore eyes Wincanton Unibet Elite Hurdle Goshen glory

Gary Moore trained five-year-old Goshen (3.35) goes to post in Wincanton’s Class 1 Unibet Elite Hurdle over 1m 7f on Saturday as a leading fancy.

“I’ve entered Goshen for Wincanton – he likes it soft – and I hope we get plenty of rain. He’s in a great place at the moment,” said in-form Moore.

Goshen finished behind Honeysuckle in the Grade 1 Paddy Power Champion Hurdle at Punchestown in April when fifth; and in the Unibet Champion Hurdle at the Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival in March, finishing eighth.

In-form Moore landed a combined 184-1 four-horse accumulator at Lingfield and Graded success at Ascot last weekend.

Jockey Josh Moore remains sidelined after suffering a spinal injury in September.

Cat Tiger tipped to land Aintree Grand Sefton

Aintree features the Betway Grand Sefton Handicap Chase over 2m 5f that includes entries in last season’s Midlands National winner Time To Get Up trained by Jonjo O’Neill.

Paul Nichols Cat Tiger (2.15) is tipped each-way by fromthehorsesmouth.info having finished third at Aintree in April in the Randox Hunters.

“It’s been an ambition for a while to move the race and it’s great to do it,” said Aintree Clerk of the course Sulekha Varma.

“It used to be a bit of an afterthought – it’s great it’s got its own stage. We’re confident it’s a good move for the race and entries – confirmations prove that.

“It gives the whole fixture more of a narrative and trainers an extra opportunity to try their horses over the fences. “Hopefully we’ll see some Grand National runners out of it again,” added Varma.

Henry de Bromhead trained Spyglass Hill carries top weight of 11st 12lbs priced at 8-1 and is worthy of each-way support.

Following heavy rain on Merseyside, the ground at Aintree heading into the weekend was soft, heavy in places on the National course and soft on the Mildmay and Hurdle courses.

“It looks largely dry on Thursday and Friday – we might see the ground improve if we get a few dry days before racing,” said Varma.

Aintree Betway Grand Sefton Handicap Chase 2 miles 5 furlongs. Betting: Time To Get Up 9-2, Cat Tiger 5-1, 7 Senior Citizen, 11-2;  Hogan’s Height 7-1, Spyglass Hill 8-1, Thomas Macdonagh 10-1, 12-1 bar.
