Glen Shiel (22-1) tipped each-way by second in Ascot Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes

Archie Watson trained Glen Shiel (22-1) ridden by Hollie Doyle tipped each-way by finished second behind Creative Force in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

“He’s a great little horse – he really deserved this,” said winning jockey William Buick, after gaining a 1 length victory in the Group 1.

“He was in great form coming into it and he’d been very good at home – conditions suited – I was very happy with where we were in the race and it worked out nicely for him,” added Buick.

“He’s a real superstar and we thought he’d have a chance in the July Cup and Sprint Cup but he’s shown today that he can do it,” said trainer Charlie Appleby.

Creative Force was priced at 7-1 for the 2022 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Ascot in June.
