ESCOBAR fromthehorsesmouth.tips Nap selection obliged in winning the John Smith’s Racing Handicap Class 2 race over 7 furlongs at York, the David O’Meara trained horse, ridden by Jamie Spencer, returning at 11-4.

Escobar raced keenly and was held up, making smooth headway 2 furlongs out, going second on the bit over 1 furlong out, to lead in the final furlong, beating 13-8 favourite Rise Hall by 3/4 length.

“Escobar is a very good horse, who likes a bit of cover, and Jamie rode a great race. We will now head for Goodwood,” said O’Meara, based at Willow Farm, Upper Helmsley, Yorkshire.

In the John Smith’s 21 runners’ Diamond Jubilee Cup Handicap over 1 mile and 2 furlongs, fromthehorsesmouth.tips each way selection, Charlie Hills trained Afaak (14-1) ridden by Dane O’Neill, finished fifth, with Sky Bet paying six places.
