LADY Buttons is set to make her season bow at Wetherby on Saturday November 2 for Green Oaks Farm, Richmond, north Yorkshire based trainer Philip Kirby.

“We have another two drying days to make Wetherby fit for racing,” Philip told me, in the wake of a scare of the meeting being thrown in doubt, due to flooding.

Last weekend’s heavy rainfall, that lead to Doncaster and Newbury meetings being called off, saw the river and dyke flooding parts of the Wetherby course.

“We are feeling much more confident. The current Wetherby going report is that all the flooding down the back straight has dispersed,” said Philip.

“It’s currently soft, good to soft in places,” added Philip, whose stables have hit form in the last week.

“We also have entries at Ayr, Uttoxeter and Carlisle, up to Sunday. It promises to be a busy few days.”

Lady Buttons is the most talented NH mare in the north – and one of the best Mares Chasers in the country.

With a plethora of career wins, including Graded or Listed wins, Lady Buttons has won approximately £200,000 in prizemoney.

Owned by Keith and Jayne Sivills, Lady Buttons has appeared at both the Aintree and Cheltenham Festivals: “She’s a star,” said Philip.
