FRANKIE Dettori will love Ladies Day at Royal Ascot 2019 in showcasing his ride Stradivarius in the Gold Cup on June 20 (4.25pm) (5.25pm Spain).

Favourite to repeat last year’s success at the Royal Ascot meeting Stradivarius will take all the beating in the 2 miles 4 furlongs race – one of the longest races of the Flat season.

The Group 1 race for four year olds and above has a prizefund of £375,000: “Stradivarius is the best stayer I’ve ever trained – and he’s a street fighter”, said trainer John Gosden.

The Ascot Gold Cup on Ladies Day is deemed as the highlight of the five day meeting that gets underway on June 18.

“Stradivarius is in great order and has had good preparation. The Ascot Gold Cup will be a real ‘ding dong’,” said Gosden.

Stradivarius won the Yorkshire Cup in May – a victory that saw the odds of winning the Gold Cup slashed from 5-2 to 7-4.

“Stradivarius was a bit rusty – but there was only going to be one winner. He’s a fighter,” said Italian ace jockey Dettori.
