NEWMARKET stage their Gin & Fizz Raceday – featuring seven races on Saturday July 20 – with Ripon staging the opening day of the Go Racing in Yorkshire Festival.
“Ladies and gentlemen are encouraged to dress up smartly in the Premier Enclosure, with most gentlemen choosing to wear smart trousers, shirt and formal shoes,” a spokesperson from Newmarket told fromthehorsesmouth.tips
“Many ladies opt for a hat – imagine you are going to a smart wedding – with smart tailored shorts acceptable in warm weather,” they said.
A strict dress code is place in the Premier, Hospitality and Champions Lawn facilities: no sportswear, trainers, t-shirts, fancy dress, cargo shorts, ripped or torn denim, or extreme attire.
Smart tailored shorts are acceptable, and dark denim. Fancy dress – in good taste – is permitted at Newmarket, in the Grandstand & Paddock and Garden Enclosure areas.
At Ripon the feature race is The Ripon Bell-Ringer Handicap, won in 2018 by 16-1 shot Benadal, trained by Chris Fairhurst and ridden by James Sullivan.
