Ballyandy, trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies and ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies, got up to beat Pentland Hills at Haydock Park – by a nose – in The New One Unibet Hurdle over 1m 7f.
“When you’ve got the best jockey in the country, then you’re going to get these things,” quipped Nigel.
Ballyandy will now have a tilt at the Champion Hurdle: “We’ll have a crack at the Champion Hurdle, over two miles,” said Nigel.
Bookies were busy slashing the Ante-post Champion Hurdle odds, with Ballyandy in to 20-1 from 33-1.
